Beech Creek United Methodist Church's Grand Ole Opry ?reaches all kinds of people?
by Rn T.Com
Four times a year, Beech Creek United Methodist Church throws their Grand Ole Opry, a combination of bluegrass, gospel and country music.Today?s free show will start at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.
Beech Creek?s pastor, the Rev. Randy Robertson, has attended the events for seven years now and said he always has a good time at the show.
?The first couple of times I realized that the Opry is just a fun time that includes talented artists where everyone can come together and enjoy great fellowship,? he said. ?Also, you can tell the artists are slightly influenced by Willie Nelson.?
Although this event is a tradition with Beech Creek, it?s clearly valued throughout the church?s congregation and the guests who come out.
Robertson called it a ?nondenominational bridge that reaches all kinds of people.?
Jeff Macleod, a member at Beech Creek, organized today?s Opry.
?If people enjoy Southern bluegrass and have an eclectic taste in music, they?ll enjoy this event,? Macleod said. ?It?s a great way to have a good time.?
The Opry also means a lot to Macleod.
?I decided to join the church after attending the Opry with my wife, who is from California, in 2006,? he said. ?She had no clue what Southern music sounded like, but we had the best time and gained a church family.?
Beech Creek United Methodist Church is located on Alabama Road and is one mile north of Shorter Industrial Boulevard across the street from Paul?s Oyster Bar. For more information call Macleod at 706-234-5678.
