D&D Monster Study Proves Eyes Have It
Emergency first aid checklist: Herbs, medicines and tools for holistic ...
Here, I've put together a quick checklist of things you'll want to acquire (or grow) to add to your emergency medicine collection.
? Aloe Vera - Can be used as a topical antibiotic as well as a treatment for burns and skin issues. Can be consumed internally (the gel only) for digestive support and to help eliminate intestinal issues.? Activated charcoal - As a dietary supplement, activated charcoal can be a true lifesaver. It absorbs poisons! It's the primary ingredient in the poison treatment liquids used in emergency rooms.
? Baking soda - This simple but miraculous substance has a multitude of uses in personal health and even treatment of many conditions including gout, arthritis, and even some cancer tumors. Read our articles on Baking Soda at:
http://www.naturalnews.com/baking_soda.html
? Wound clotting products such as Quik Clot. Available at:
http://www.quikclot.com/home.aspx
? Cayenne pepper tincture - An amazing first aid substance with applications for boosting circulation and even helping heart attack victims.
? Gauze and bandages: You can never have too many, it seems. Available everywhere.
? Rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide: Both are super cheap to acquire and have very long shelf life. Both can help clean first aid tools or even light wounds.
? Medical adhesive tape: I cannot emphasize enough how much you'll need this tape. Buy as many rolls as you can. They store for many years and have a multitude of uses. Get a variety of sizes.
? A good quality emergency knife, preferably a rugged folding knife.
? Tweezers and safety pins: These will be handy in a variety of situations.
? Safety razor blades.
? Cotton-tipped swabs.
? Colloidal silver liquid - Absolutely the single most important first aid item for long-term preparedness and survival. Can be used on the skin as well as internally. A very long history of safe use by tens of millions of people. Superbugs cannot build resistance to silver!
? Colloidal silver first aid gel - A combination homeopathic / silver solution for topical use. In my own home medicine cabinet, this has now replaced all topical antiseptics and antibiotic ointments.
? A tourniquet. I recommend the Combat Application Tourniquet, available here:
http://www.amazon.com/C-A-T-Combat-Application-Tourniquet-American/dp...
? Natural sugar source to treat hypoglycemia. I recommend coconut sugar because it lasts much longer than processed white sugar.
? A magnifying glass. Or better yet, have a wearable magnifier that sits on your forehead, freeing up your hands.
? Non-electric thermometer.
? Sturdy sewing needle and thread.
? High-quality natural soap such as Dr. Bronner.
? Collapsible water container (like a camp sink).
? Have a waterproof container to hold all these first aid items.
We also offer the Herbal Survival Pack from Enerhealth, featuring 10 herbal remedies covering fungal attacks, parasites, bladder cleanse, viral response, a de-stress remedy and more. Available at:
The bottom line: There are a LOT of people in New York City right now who wish they would have thought about emergency medicine before the superstorm hit. Right now, they are prisoners of Manhattan Island, unable to leave the city and unable to acquire supplies. There is no power, no subway system, no emergency response services and no 911 capacity to speak of.
People are on their own, and for many who lived in a state of total denial about reality, they have put themselves into an emergency situation by refusing to prepare: Medically, defensively, and even economically.
Don't be a victim due to a lack of preparedness. Get prepared now so that when disaster strikes your area, you won't become a helpless victim needing to be rescued.

From the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, where every president has stayed since Herbert Hoover, to an impromptu trip to Five Guys, The Daily Meal has the scoop on nine of the presidential palate-pleasing restaurants favored by the first family.
12 Bones Smokehouse (Asheville, N.C.)
When President Barack Obama visited 12 Bones Smokehouse with his wife Michelle, he insisted on going unannounced, standing in line and paying cash. He ordered barbecue ribs with blueberry chipotle barbecue sauce.
Il Mulino (New York City)
When former President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama decided to dine together at Il Mulino in Greenwich Village, the restaurant was shut down and the ma?tre d' wore a special pin given by the Secret Service to show he had been cleared to approach the president. Another Clinton family favorite spot for sweet treats is Mad Martha?s, where Chelsea liked to order mocha chip yogurt and former President Clinton ordered orange-pineapple ice cream.
Tex-Mex-Chex
While former President George W. Bush enjoyed eating out, his aides always had a stash of his favorite snack, Tex-Mex Chex. His aides joke that there were always two things within 10 feet of the president at all times: the nuclear football and a bag of Tex-Mex Chex. White House chef Walter Scheib prepared the snack of Chex cereal with hot sauce, pretzels, pistachios and Mexican pumpkin seeds.

50 homes burn as six-alarm blaze hits Queens

A fire that ravaged through the flooded Breezy Point neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens destroyed at least 50 houses Monday night.
By NBC News staff
Updated at 9:23 a.m.:?NEW YORK -- ?At least 50 homes were destroyed in the New York City borough of Queens early Tuesday as crews continued to battle a six-alarm fire into the daylight.
FDNY officials said the fire at Breezy Point was reported at about 11 p.m. ET on Monday in a Zone A area, which the New York City Office of Emergency Management declared to be the highest risk of flooding from Superstorm Sandy?s storm surge.
FDNY spokesperson Michael Parrella told NBC News that nearly 200 firefighters were on the scene by 5 a.m. Tuesday, battling high winds that made the flames difficult to knock down.

With chest-high water from the storm filling the street, firefighters had to use a boat to make rescues, the Associated Press reported. Fire department officials said about 25 people were trapped in the upstairs unit of one apartment, and the two-story home next door was ablaze and setting fire to the apartment?s roof. Firefighters climbed an awning to rescue the trapped people and took them downstairs to a boat in the street.
Parrella said the six-alarm blaze was largely contained Tuesday morning after the fire ravaged through several blocks and destroyed 50 homes, but there were pockets still smoldering. City officials said it appeared most of the area was evacuated prior to the fire, and no serious injuries have been reported, NBCNewYork.com reported.
About 170 firefighters were called to the scene in Breezy Point, Queens, where at least 50 homes have caught fire. MSNBC's Chris Jansing reports.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Parrella said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, Parrella said, and weather was still a factor.

The Breezy Point neighborhood, which functions mainly as a summer get-away for many residents of New York, sits on the western end of the Rockaway peninsula, jutting into the Atlantic Ocean. The small, coastal area contains about 3,500 homes.
Reports of the fire came just hours before President Barack Obama signed a major disaster declaration for New York and Long Island in the wake of Hurricane Sandy?s destruction, enabling federal aid to assist with storm recovery efforts.

On The Call: US Steel CEO John Surma
The slowing global economy has kept pressure on U.S. steel manufacturers. In particular, Europe's massive debt crisis has caused some countries to fall into recession, which has hurt demand for products manufactured by United States Steel Corp.
U.S. Steel Chairman and CEO John P. Surma discussed business conditions in Europe on Tuesday with analysts during a conference call.
QUESTION: What are you seeing in Europe and looking forward to in 2013?
RESPONSE: Things in Europe are very choppy right now ... I think it's going to be pretty slow in Europe certainly for this quarter as we suggested, auto production which we have a piece of, directly and indirectly, is way off, manufacturing off. Construction continues to be very difficult ...
There's not a whole lot of good news in Europe and on pricing, things are very, very competitive and whether you're coming from the west, from the east from the south, from the north, things are very competitive (and) I expect is going to stay that way for little while ...
We have a really good cost structure, operating cost structure, really high productivity, good logistics on materials at very competitive cost of materials ... We're going to focus on that and try to keep our costs as low as they can (be).

Japan industrial output falls, unemployment steady
TOKYO (AP) ? A fresh barrage of negative data on Japan's failing recovery Tuesday pumped up pressure for central bank action to help revive the world's third-largest economy.
Japan's industrial output contracted by 4.1 percent in September from August and 8.1 percent from a year earlier as automakers and steel mills cut production due to shrinking demand and antagonisms with China, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The economic recovery that followed Japan's March 2011 disasters has been doused by slowing global growth. Flaring tensions with China over disputed islands in the East China Sea have further crimped demand, especially for big-ticket items like cars. Slowing growth in China, meanwhile, has hit demand for industrial inputs like steel and machinery.
"Industrial production is on a downward trend," the ministry said, forecasting a further decline in October, followed by a rebound in November.
The central bank was meeting Tuesday, with many expecting it to expand its assets-purchasing program, aimed at catalyzing demand to counter slowing growth.
Embattled Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda convened an extraordinary session of the legislature on Monday, appealing to the opposition Liberal Democratic Party to cooperate in passing a bill authorizing bond sales to finance the growing deficit.
Japan already leads industrial nations with government debt amounting to more than twice the country's gross domestic product. It now faces a "fiscal cliff" thanks to a standoff over the timing of the next elections, which is preventing issuance of 38.3 trillion yen (about $480 billion) in deficit financing.
"We still have work to do!" Noda said in a speech that repeatedly reminded lawmakers of their responsibility toward future generations. He warned that funding shortfalls threaten to affect crucial government services.
Noda's Democratic Party of Japan is struggling as the Liberal Democrats gain in power. He was obliged to present his policy speech Monday in the House of Representatives after the LDP, which controls the upper house of the parliament, blocked him from delivering the speech in that chamber.
Apart from the political mess, exports, usually a bright spot for Japan's economy, are faltering as the prolonged crisis in Europe crimps demand. Another problem is the persistent strength of the yen, which makes products made in Japan relatively more expensive in overseas markets.
Shipments of passenger cars dropped 12.6 percent in September from August and 13.2 percent from a year earlier, METI reported. Shipments of virtually all other products also fell.
Jobless rate figures for September likewise offered little encouragement, as the government reported the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in September, unchanged from August.
The ratio of job offers to seekers fell to 0.81 from 0.83 in August, meaning there were 81 jobs for every 100 job seekers.

Insuring Travel for Hurricane Sandy - The Travel Insure Blog - Travel ...
Submitted by Joe Cortez
Yesterday, we talked about what to do about your travel?as the landfall of Hurricane Sandy was imminent. And as you can see, the storm was not something to take lightly. Our thoughts go out to all of those who are affected by this storm in some way: millions are without power, and damages will be valued in the tens of millions when everything is assessed.
At this juncture, there will be a lot of people who will be grateful that they have some sort of insurance protecting their cars, homes, and valuables that have been irrevocably damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Just as grateful will be those who purchased travel insurance to protect their journeys, and will not have to face extraneous expense as a result of trying to get where they are going. But in this situation, what do you need to know about travel insurance to make the most of your purchase?
First, always know what's going on where you are coming from, where you are going, and for everything else inbetween. In? the situation of Hurricane Sandy, it became a known event on October 24, 2012. In order for your travel insurance to provide coverage, you would have needed to purchase your insurance on October 23 (or sooner).
Second, know what your travel insurance covers. Our Travel Insurance Select?product covers trip cancellation, trip delay, and travel interruption - but not all products do. Make sure you are clear about what they do and do not cover when you buy.
And make sure you have a copy of your travel insurance policy with you in your travels. This way, you will always have a clear understanding of what you can and can't have coverage for when you go.
With all of that said, there is still a limited number of circumstances to be aware of when planning on making a travel insurance claim:
- In the event of a covered hurricane or other unforeseen severe weather (and your travel insurance is purchased 24 hours before they name the storm), most travel insurance provides coverage under the Trip Cancellation and Interruption benefit. If your trip is cancelled for a covered reason,?your travel insurance may provide you with a refund of the pre-paid, non-refundable trip costs trip up to the limit of coverage.
- If you pre-paid for a resort stay, and?the resort is damaged and cannot accommodate you or provide comparable accommodations, your nonrefundable costs may be reimbursable by your travel insurance plan.
- If a storm or hurricane directly affects your travel arrangements or accommodations, you may be entitled to Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption benefits. For instance, in the situation that an airport is closed due to the high winds, you are forced to evacuate your hotel,?the road you are traveling is impassable due to high water, or your originating or destination airport is closed due to a hurricane, you may be able to make claim on your benefits.
Should you choose to cancel your trip based on your best information, always contact your travel provider first. And if your travel dates change, your travel insurance can change just as easily - simply call or email us, and we can make that change for you.
Does this help you understand how travel insurance plays into your plans? Can we answer any additional questions for you? Let us know how we can help during this time in the comments below.
(Ed. Note: The writer's thanks goes to Linda in our customer service department - for helping to compile this travel insurance blog.)

NEW YORK (AP) ? The San Francisco Giants' sweep of the Detroit Tigers set a record low for the World Series' television ratings.
The four games on Fox averaged a 7.6 rating and 12 share, Nielsen Media Research said Monday. The previous low was an 8.4 for the 2008 Phillies-Rays and 2010 Giants-Rangers series, which each went five games.
Last year's Cardinals-Rangers World Series went the full seven games and built momentum to average a 10.0/16.
San Francisco's 2-0 win in Game 3 on Saturday night earned a 6.1/11, down from a 6.6/12 for St. Louis' 16-7 win over Texas in the third game last year and matching the lowest for any World Series game. Philadelphia's 5-4 win in Game 3 in 2008 also had a 6.1 rating on a night a rain delay pushed the start after 10 p.m. on the East Coast and the game didn't end until 1:47 a.m.
The Giants' 4-3, 10-inning victory in the finale Sunday night drew an 8.9/14, up slightly from the 9.2/14 for the Rangers' 4-0 win over the Cardinals in 2011.
Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with TVs tuned into a program. Shares represent the percentage watching among all homes with TVs in use at the time.
Fox said it projects to win Saturday and Sunday nights among viewers 18 to 49.
"The World Series has been a top-10 prime-time hit for over 40 years and even with a four-game sweep this series was no exception," said Michael Mulvihill, Fox Sports Media Group's senior vice president of programming and research. "This World Series gave us exactly what we expected: a top-10 show among all viewers and a top five show among hard-to-reach younger men. It's important for us to remain focused on the Series relative to today's competitive environment rather than bygone years."
Fox televised the World Series in 1996, 1998 and has had exclusive rights since 2000. It has an eight-year deal with Major League Baseball through 2021 that includes Series rights and costs an average of about $500 million annually.
San Francisco had the highest rating for Game 4 at 38.7/64. Detroit was at 37.9/53.
Major League Baseball said there were 1,202,706 comments on social media for the Series finale, surpassing Game 6 last year for MLB's high. That included 171,024 comments within five minutes after the final out, topping the 97,000 for David Freese's winning home run in the sixth game last year, according to data from Bluefin Labs. The 10,671,781 social media comments for the postseason marked a 131 percent increase from last year.

AEGON signs ?170m BPO outsourcing deal with Serco ...
Pensions giant AEGON has signed a ?170 million, ten year outsourcing deal with Serco to provide it with a wide range of customer contact and support services.
Serco will be managing all customer interactions with AEGON, from initial underwriting to claims management, through a combination of its cloud, internet telephony, and CRM capabilities.
It will be responsible for the administration of approximately 500,000 current and closed book policies in total.
?Our new partnership with Serco will add further impetus to our developing and highly successful protection business,? adds Adrian Grace, UK CEO of AEGON.
?We?re absolutely determined to deliver first-class customer service and to maximise our operational efficiency as we move forward with our progressive development plans for the UK business.?
Anthony Miller, managing partner at analyst firm TechMarketView, has said that the deal highlights Serco?s desire to make its name in the BPO market.
He said: ?It would be a bit previous to postulate that Serco presents a ?clear and present danger? to insurance business process services market leaders Capita and TCS. However, Serco is on a mission to boost its presence in ?back-office BPO?,?
?Having said that, Serco's first attempt to break into this market back in 2005 when it acquired UK BPO ?local hero?, ITNET, was in our opinion all but an abject failure, so management still has much to prove that Serco can be a success outside of its ?blue collar? support services comfort (and sometimes discomfort!) zone.?

Honeybees harbor antibiotic-resistance genes
ScienceDaily (Oct. 30, 2012) ? Bacteria in the guts of honeybees are highly resistant to the antibiotic tetracycline, probably as a result of decades of preventive antibiotic use in domesticated hives. Researchers from Yale University identified eight different tetracycline resistance genes among U.S. honeybees that were exposed to the antibiotic, but the genes were largely absent in bees from countries where such antibiotic use is banned.
The study appears on October 30 in mBio?, the online open-access journal of the American Society for Microbiology.
"It [resistance] seems to be everywhere in the U.S.," says Nancy Moran of Yale University, a senior author on the study. "There's a pattern here, where the U.S. has these genes and the others don't."
Honeybees the world over are susceptible to the bacterial disease called "foulbrood," which can wipe out a hive faster than beekeepers can react to the infection. In the U.S., beekeepers have kept the disease at bay with regular preventive applications of the antibiotic oxytetracycline, a compound that closely resembles tetracycline, which is commonly used in humans. Oxytetracycline has been in use among beekeepers since the 1950s, and many genes that confer resistance to oxytetracycline also confer resistance to tetracycline.
Using sensitive molecular techniques, Moran and her colleagues screened honeybees from several locations in the United States and from Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and New Zealand as well as several wild bumblebees from the Czech Republic, for the presence and abundance of tetracycline resistance genes. They found that U.S. honeybees have greater numbers and a more diverse set of tetracycline resistance genes than honeybees from the other countries.
Moran says it is reasonable to expect to see widespread resistance among bees, considering the decades-long use of oxytetracycline in honeybee hives. "It seems likely this reflects a history of using oxytetracycline since the 1950s. It's not terribly surprising. It parallels findings in other domestic animals, like chickens and pigs," says Moran.
Moran notes that beekeepers have long used oxytetracycline to control the bacterium that causes foulbrood, but the pathogen eventually acquired resistance to tetracycline itself. Of the foulbrood pathogens Melissococcus pluton and Paenibacillus larvae, Moran says, "They carry tetL, which is one of the eight resistance genes we found. It's possible that the gene was transferred either from the gut bacteria to the pathogen or from the pathogen to the gut bacteria."
Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and New Zealand do not allow beekeepers to use oxytetracycline in hives, so it is perhaps predictable that honeybees and wild bumblebees from these countries harbored only two or three different resistance genes and only in very low copy numbers, suggesting that the bacteria did not require the genes very frequently.
The authors of the study point out that by encouraging resistance and altering the bacteria that live in honeybee guts, decades of antibiotic applications may have actually been detrimental to honeybee wellbeing. Studies have suggested that the bacterial residents of the honeybee gut play beneficial roles in neutralizing toxins in the bees' diet, nutrition, and in defending the bee against pathogens. By disrupting the honeybee microbiota and reducing its diversity, long-term antibiotic use could weaken honeybee resistance to other diseases. Hence, the treatment that was meant to prevent disease and strengthen the hive may actually weaken its ability to fight off other pathogens.
Moran says while the study is interesting from the perspective of honeybee health and could have implications for how honeybee diseases are managed, the presence of resistance genes in the honeybee gut doesn't pose a direct risk to humans. These gut bacteria, says Moran, "don't actually live in the honey, they live in the bee. We've never actually detected them in the honey. When people are eating honey, they're not eating these bacteria."

Samsung Galaxy Note II (Sprint)
The Galaxy Note II for Sprint ($299.99 direct) is many things, but above all, it's the most?phone there is. It gives you more screen, more processor, and more OS than just about any other phone out there. It's also a significant improvement over the first Galaxy Note?, thanks to a faster quad-core processor and the Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" OS, not to mention a host of Samsung-developed note-taking software improvements. If you think other phones are too small, and prefer something big enough to double as a miniature tablet that (barely) fits in your pocket, the Galaxy Note II reigns supreme. It's the first recipient of our new Editors' Choice award for phablets (phones with screen sizes ranging from 5.0 to 6.9 inches). That said, Sprint's lack of LTE coverage continues to be a problem.
Editors' Note: The Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note II are all very similar, so we're sharing a lot of material between our reviews. That said, we're testing each device separately, so read the review for your carrier of choice. The slideshow below is for the T-Mobile version, which is visually identical aside from the carrier name in the notification bar, and the logo on the plastic back panel.
Design and Screen
Visually, there's almost no difference between the various versions, aside from a Samsung logo (not Sprint, oddly enough) on the back panel instead of a carrier name.?The Galaxy Note II measures 5.95 by 3.17 by 0.37 inches (HWD) and weighs 6.34 ounces. That's roughly an inch taller and half an inch wider than even big smartphones with 4.5-inch and greater screens. It's just as thin as those, though, which helps a lot. It's made entirely of plastic with the exception of the glass screen. But unlike some other Samsung handsets, the Galaxy Note II looks and feels refined, thanks to the classy, faux-anodized silver finish and a smoked chrome accent ring around the sides. You can get one in either gray or white.
The star of the show is the 5.5-inch, 1,280-by-720-pixel, Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen. The aspect ratio is 16:9 this time, instead of 16:10 like the first Galaxy Note, which had a slightly higher 1,280-by-800-pixel resolution. Either way, the new display is stunning. It's super-bright, with vivid colors and deep blacks, and viewing angles are uniformly excellent. I suppose you could argue that at 267ppi, pixel depth isn't quite as impressive as it is on smaller phones with the same 720p resolution. But rest assured: This screen looks fantastic.
As you can imagine, the screen is large enough for easy typing in both portrait and landscape modes. You even get an extra row of number keys, so you don't have to switch the keyboard mode to enter in digits.?There's a hardware Home button below the screen, flanked by Menu and Back capacitive touch buttons. A Wacom-designed stylus is tucked into a slot under the bottom right edge. The stylus supports 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity?four times what the stylus in the Galaxy Note supports.
Given its gargantuan size, the Galaxy Note II is difficult to use one-handed?except that, fortunately, Samsung has already thought of this. To that end, it provides a series of toggles in Settings > One-Handed Operation.?You can move the dial buttons to the left or right, for example, and position the keyboard and unlock pattern for easier access.
Connectivity and Voice Calls
The Galaxy Note II on Sprint is a dual-band EV-DO Rev. A (850/1900 MHz) and 4G LTE device with 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands. I had no problem connecting to a 5GHz, WPA2-encrypted hotspot in the PCMag Lab. We're rating the Sprint version of the Galaxy Note II down half a point compared with the other carrier models, thanks to the lack of Sprint LTE coverage in most U.S. major cities. Without LTE, the phone works as a 3G device, but Sprint's 3G network is the slowest of the major U.S. carriers; download speeds struggled to break just 200Kbps, which puts it closer to 2G than 3G, and many attempts at reaching the Internet timed out altogether in our midtown Manhattan test location.
Voice calls sounded as good as I've ever heard on a cell phone, and essentially matched what I heard with the T-Mobile version, at least through the earpiece; it sounded full, warm, and loud, with no background hiss. I could move my ear quite a bit against the handset and still hear the other party easily, which wasn't possible with the?LG Intuition. Transmissions through the microphone were clear, although a little thinner-sounding than on other carriers. I tested the phone on an extremely noisy street, which the noise cancelling algorithms reduced to a low, steady drone (which was entirely absent in quieter environments).
Calls also sounded clear through a?Jawbone Era?Bluetooth headset. Pairing was simple; tap the Bluetooth icon in the notification bar and the phone immediately looks for new Bluetooth devices. The rear-mounted mono speakerphone sounded clear and loud, and should be fine for use outdoors. We expect good things out of the oversize 3100mAh battery; we're still testing battery life and will update this review as soon as we have a result.
Voice dialing deserves special mention. Samsung's S Voice lets you control the Note by voice. You can wake it up by saying Hi Galaxy, double-tapping the Home button, or by choosing your own phrase. You can also enable or disable handwriting mode, which activates when you pull the pen from the device. In addition to voice dialing?which worked fine over Bluetooth in my tests?you can also text, search contacts, navigate, schedule something on your calendar, add a task, start a music playlist, and update Twitter, all with your voice.
Hardware, OS, and Apps
Under the hood is a 1.6GHz quad-core A9 Samsung Exynos processor and 2GB of RAM. Android fans can rejoice, as the Galaxy Note II is the first Sprint handset to ship with Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" out of the box. Benchmark results were at the top of the class almost entirely across the board; combine Jelly Bean with a quad-core processor and you get one fast phone. The exception was some gaming frame rate tests, the results of which lagged next to the Qualcomm-powered LG Optimus G, the only other quad-core phone available in America right now. But three separate Optimus G review units overheated repeatedly in our tests, and automatically dialed back the screen brightness to cool down, whereas the Galaxy Note II stayed cool to the touch, no matter how hard I made it work.
