ALBANY, GA --
Tuesday's city commission was the last meeting for Mayor Willie Adams.

He says he?s proud of the commission?s accomplishments over the past eight years including the installation of the 311 call center that takes non-emergency calls for the county, city and Water Gas and Light. Adams is also extremely proud of the formation of the Gang Task Unit that has arrested over 400 gang members.

Discussing race relations, Mayor Adams agrees it is an issue.

?But it's not as grave as a lot of people might want to build it up to be. And I?m dependent on the younger generation to get things going better and I see signs of that,? says Adams.

City Commissioner Jon Howard says Adams has definitely brought unity to the commission, if not the city of Albany. Dorothy Hubbard, who will be sworn in as mayor Monday, January 9, agrees saying you don?t see as much fighting among the commissioners.

Hubbard has the support of the commissioners and she hopes to continue the unity around the table. She also hopes to unite the community over common issues like blight.

?So those are issues we can agree on and we're going to take those and we're going to have people in there working on those from all areas of the community and that I think will begin building the trust,? says Hubbard.
