WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. ? Two dogs escaped a house fire that completely destroyed a home Saturday morning.
Firefighters said the fire at 5216 NW 137th Ave. started just before 10 a.m. Several people called 9-1-1 to report heavy smoke and fire coming from the windows.
Two dogs escaped from the home before firefighters arrived. The family that lived in the home was not home during the fire.
Firefighters said crews had the fire under control 30 minutes after they arrived. The home was considered a total loss.
?Whatever caused this fire, had a significant head start on our firefighters,? said Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Karen Eubanks. ?The volume of the fire when we arrived made it next to impossible to save this home.?
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
